虹伝説 THE RAINBOW GOBLINS について

「虹伝説THE RAINBOW GOBLINS」は、1981年に発売された高中正義の7枚目のオリジナルア ルバムです。イタリアの画家ウル・デ・リコの絵本「THE RAINBOW GOBLINS」（邦題 「虹伝説」）からインスピレーションを得て制作されたコンセプトアルバムで、第23回日 本レコード大賞企画賞を受賞しています。

「Plumed Bird」は虹を守る鳥をイメージした楽曲で、軽やかで浮遊感のあるフレーズが 特徴的です。テクニカルでありながらも、繊細なニュアンスと表現力が求められる難曲だ と思います。

リードギターにはYAMAHA REVSTAR RSP20を使用しました。 オリジナルでは高中正義がYAMAHA SGを使用しており、同じYAMAHAのハムバッカー搭載ギターとしてREVSTARを使用しました。 リフやバッキングにはFender Stratocasterを使用し、シングルコイルとハムバッカーのコントラストを出しています。

About The Rainbow Goblins

"The Rainbow Goblins" is Masayoshi Takanaka's 7th original album, released in 1981. It's a concept album inspired by the picture book "The Rainbow Goblins" by Italian artist Ul de Rico. The album won the Planning Award at the 23rd Japan Record Awards.

"Plumed Bird" evokes the image of a bird protecting the rainbow, characterized by light, floating phrases. It's a technically demanding piece that requires delicate nuance and expression.

Performance Notes

When playing this piece, I focused on:

• Floating phrasing: To express the image of a bird soaring through the sky, I paid careful attention to attack and decay
• Dynamic variation: I tried to create natural transitions from quiet passages to climactic sections
• SG-like tone: I aimed for the thick, sweet tone reminiscent of the YAMAHA SG used in the original

Equipment

For the lead guitar, I used the YAMAHA REVSTAR RSP20. Since Takanaka used a YAMAHA SG in the original recording, I chose the REVSTAR as a fellow YAMAHA humbucker-equipped guitar. The Fender Stratocaster provides contrast with its single-coil pickups for the backing parts.
