The closure of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has been scarcely covered by Japanese media. Even when reported, it is often limited to a superficial narrative that “the U.S. is reducing foreign aid.”

On the other hand, statements from figures such as Elon Musk portray USAID as an organization involved in serious corruption. There are even claims that it has engaged in covert operations similar to those conducted by the CIA in the past.

With such contrasting evaluations, where does the truth lie?

A notable aspect of this issue is that NTT Data, a company considered part of Japan’s national policy framework, was awarded a 218 million dollar contract by USAID. NTT Data is a core company of the NTT Group, in which the Japanese government holds more than one-third of the shares. This contract goes beyond a mere business transaction; it directly relates to Japan’s national interests.

Despite this, Japanese media have largely ignored the issue. This suggests that the lack of coverage is unlikely to be coincidental but rather an indication of deliberate information control. From the perspective of the public’s right to know, this information gap represents a severe problem.

USAID閉鎖報道の空白：日本の国策企業との関係と情報管理の疑念

米国国際開発庁（USAID）の閉鎖に関する報道は、日本のメディアではほとんど取り上げられていません。仮に報じられたとしても、「米国が対外援助を削減する」という表面的な内容にとどまっています。

一方で、イーロン・マスク氏の発言などを見ると、USAIDは深刻な不正を行っている組織として描かれています。実際、過去にはCIAのような工作活動を行っていたとの指摘もあります。

このように評価が大きく分かれる中、真実はどこにあるのでしょうか。

注目すべきは、日本の国策企業とも言えるNTTデータが、USAIDから2億1,800万ドルの契約を受注していた点です。NTTデータは、日本政府が株式の三分の一以上を保有する日本電信電話（NTT）グループの中核企業であり、この契約は単なる民間企業の取引を超え、日本の国益に直結する案件と考えられます。

それにもかかわらず、日本のメディアがこの問題をほとんど報じていない現状は、偶然とは考えにくいものです。むしろ、意図的な情報管理が行われている可能性を強く示唆しています。国民の「知る権利」という観点から見ても、この報道の空白は極めて深刻な問題と言えるでしょう。
